Littlewood Studios

I am blessed to have a studio in an old coach house. The weathered wood exterior belies the riot of color inside.

To work I need a spacious place that can tolerate lots of water. Sixteen years ago I created my studio in a 1903 coach house behind our house. It was a mess: the windows were broken, the walls crumbling, and the dirt had been used as a giant cat box.

It took three years to get it standing and usable. I painted the inside white and the concrete floor purple.  The floor has crumbled under all the water but the walls are bright and cheerful: whenever I am at a major junction in my work and I am unsure how to proceed I paint the walls.  I use eleven paint colors and I just paint any section until I come to an edge and then change color.
